The odds of an average golfer hitting a hole-in-one are estimated to be around 12,500 to 1.
Even professional golfers only have about a 2,500 to 1 chance. This makes it a truly special and memorable accomplishment.

We were playing 4 fathers against their 4 sons (for fun) and it was the culmination to a great father-son weekend. Everyone in my group (the fathers) witnessed the shot, while the 4 sons were on the previous green. They heard our reaction but didn't get to see the ball go in the hole. It was a great feeling, my 15 minutes of fame.
