The fact that the tee, is well above the green, meant we were able to actually watch the ace happen. There is a slightly sunken landing area, then a slight rise to the font edge of the green. When I hit the shot it felt nice off the club, one of my partners said 'thats the ticket' then, we saw it roll up, from the landing area on to the green, and it was heading for the pin. We were all murmuring, then it went completely silent, and the ball hit the pin, which we heard and then dropped. We were all hugging and shouting. I didn't believe it had happened until I picked the ball out of the hole. Within the fourball we are all great mates (myself, mark johns, jez gilchrist and tim chase) and we have been playing golf together regularly for about 7 months now, and this was the first hole in one the group as a whole had witnessed, it was fantastic, unforgettable. What a buzz, it gives you the best feeling in the world. 4 days on I am still grinning. It was late in the evening so there weren't many people on the course, and I don't think anyone else was within range to have heard that the inevitable must have taken place!!
