Browse By DateOdds Of A Hole-In-One?
The odds of an average golfer hitting a hole-in-one are estimated to be around 12,500 to 1.
Even professional golfers only have about a 2,500 to 1 chance. This makes it a truly special and memorable accomplishment.

My first ever hole-in-one occurred at diamondhead country club during their annual thanksgiving gobbler tournament. I approached hole 6 (pine course) with a gap wedge in hand and the wind pushing slightly from the right. There was a small pond that did not come much into play and the green was surrounded by one bunker on the left and one on the right. The hole was playing 108 yards and the green sloped from back to front. My play was to knock down a smooth gap wedge and use the slope to my advantage. As soon as I struck it, I knew I had hit it pure and it proceeded to land a couple yards past the pin and slowly began creeping back towards the hole. As it inched closer, I remember having time to look at my playing partners thinking to myself, â"is this it? â" once it dropped, I immediately forgot any sort of golf etiquette, tossed my club in the air, yelled, â"let's goâ", and celebrated with my friends. I am now 34 years old and I've been playing the game since I was 14. I've holed many shots from the fairway, chipped in from every lie imaginable, surprised myself with putts I didn't think were even possible, but this shot will forever remain the most memorable and special to me. Now it's time to seek number 2..
