The odds of an average golfer hitting a hole-in-one are estimated to be around 12,500 to 1.
Even professional golfers only have about a 2,500 to 1 chance. This makes it a truly special and memorable accomplishment.

The women at blue heron hills were playing their 'heron cup' at the time the ryder cup was playing in europe. We were playing 4- ball match play and were on hole #5, which was playing that day about 180 yards. It was a very windy day, so I decided to used my driver, being that it would play even longer than 180 yards. Everything was feeling good; my swing, great contact on the ball, ball trojectory to the green, the ball landing on the green, rolling towards the pin and dropping in! I said, 'oh my god, it disappeared! It's in the hole! The other 3 women that were with me, one of them my mother, 'trish the dish', were all screaming! Neighbors on both sides of the tee came out wondering what the screaming was all about. It was definately quite an event and a special day. A couple of holes later I saw my husband, son, step-son, and step-dad and told them what just happened. They were all very excited and wanted their 'drinks on the house' when they arrived at the club house. The morning of the 2nd day of the tournament, my son ben, says, 'mom, get another hole-in-one! ' I told him I would try my best, but it probably wasn't going to happen. The 2nd day of the tournament, I went to play hole #5 again and I just didn't have the right feeling, nothing felt right, I couldn't get comfortable, and it definitely wasn't a close shot at all to the green! Oh well, until next time!!
