The odds of an average golfer hitting a hole-in-one are estimated to be around 12,500 to 1.
Even professional golfers only have about a 2,500 to 1 chance. This makes it a truly special and memorable accomplishment.

Well coincidentally I told my friend over the phone in the morning that I was going to get a hole in one that day. As we were standing on the second tee I landed the ball about 5 feet short and right of the pin and it rolled left directly into the hole. As the ball was in the air my buddy said 'that's going to be tight! ' and he didn't even finish the sentence and it dropped. Obviously I yelled and heaved my club into the air but my 3 friends in the group were as happy as I was. It was the first time any of us had seen a hole in one in person and I certainly hope it won't be my last. As we stopped by the clubhouse inbetween 9's a couple of the men there asked what all the yelling was about? After telling them about my hole in one they immediately asked my age, when I told them I was only 17 their faces turned to disapointment as I was unable to buy everyone in the clubhouse a round of drinks.
