The odds of an average golfer hitting a hole-in-one are estimated to be around 12,500 to 1.
Even professional golfers only have about a 2,500 to 1 chance. This makes it a truly special and memorable accomplishment.

This was my first hole-in-one after 48 years of golf. I started at age 21 and am now 69... I carried a single-digit handicap when I was younger and came very close to both hole-in-one and double eagle but nothing ever fell. With my game in disarray, I had long since give up on an ace. Then I yanked out the old 5-wood, hit what appeared to be a decent shot and watched as it took one big spinning bounce and rolled right into the hole. I screamed like a 12-year-old girl and hugged my longtime partner. Haven't been that high since college.
