This was a hole I had not been playing well. When I registered for the monthly medal competition I had a word with the professional and he mentioned to think positive when addressing the ball. I took a slow back swing and on coming down into the shot concentrated on ensuring I had a good follow through. I hit the ball so sweetly, high and with a slight draw. I saw it land and had a feeling it would be very close to the hole. One of my partners said he thought it went into the hole. So I could not be too excited but as I approached the green three other golfers on an adjacent tee gave me the thumbs up. They said they saw the ball land and then roll a few feet and gently drop into the hole. On completion of my round I had a word with the professional who was delighted to hear my good news. This was the first time I had scored a hole in one in a club competition. Over twelve months ago I started some coaching with the pro and soon after registered a hole in one in a friendly match. So I have a lot to thank the pro for. This is my third hole in one, the other at moortown golf club in 1992.
