The odds of an average golfer hitting a hole-in-one are estimated to be around 12,500 to 1.
Even professional golfers only have about a 2,500 to 1 chance. This makes it a truly special and memorable accomplishment.

We didn't see the ball go in since the hole was hidden behind a ridge in the green. When I saw the ball land on the green and roll towards the pin I yelled 'in the hole'. Then it went over the crest and disappeared. As we walked to the green, one of my partners kept jumping up and down trying to get a view of the hole. He said 'I think it went in'. I was speechless when I stepped to the hole and saw my ball sitting in the cup.
