Browse By DateOdds Of A Hole-In-One?
The odds of an average golfer hitting a hole-in-one are estimated to be around 12,500 to 1.
Even professional golfers only have about a 2,500 to 1 chance. This makes it a truly special and memorable accomplishment.

I estimate that in my 30 years of golf I have hit over 180,000 shots (including many a 3-putt), which equates to approximately 2000 rounds of golf, and an estimated 8000 par 3's. Finally having one roll in after hitting the green (that in itself is an accomplishment), I yelped the loudest "yes" when I arrived at the flagstick and realized as I peered into the hole that the ball did not roll off the back edge of the green. A fellow golfer on the hole parallel (mike dilecce) - I golf nearly every evening after work by myself - saw me take to ball out (I found the used golf ball in the rough a day earlier and used it for that hole) of the hole and congratulated me.
