The odds of an average golfer hitting a hole-in-one are estimated to be around 12,500 to 1.
Even professional golfers only have about a 2,500 to 1 chance. This makes it a truly special and memorable accomplishment.

My hole in one was achieved on the second hole of a sudden death play off for the crystal brook open. We halved the first hole and I was teeing off first on the second hole. I had been sitting around in the clubrooms watching the crows (an adelaide based australian rules football team) for the previous hour and a half when I was told we were off on a playoff. My very excited father, a life member of the club, caddied for me during the playoff! The reaction of my opponents caddie,"well, there's room for 2 in there! "
