The odds of an average golfer hitting a hole-in-one are estimated to be around 12,500 to 1.
Even professional golfers only have about a 2,500 to 1 chance. This makes it a truly special and memorable accomplishment.

What was special was that a family member was there as well as 'creditable' witnesses. The biggest thing was that I couldn't stop complaining, not about the hole, but the yardage. Only playing golf for a little over two years I have had difficulty with long par 3's. I debated club selection a number of times and decided I would rather hit it short than past it due to having problems sticking it on the green with a long club. Even before I teed off I said 'and to top it off I hate hitting my 3 iron off the tee', however, I felt I should for a little extra loft and yardage. I got to see it go in... That was special. It wasn't one of those blind par 3 shots that you discover later it fell. It was a clean crisp shot that I was aiming at the pin and no lucky bounces (except for it going in the hole).
