The odds of an average golfer hitting a hole-in-one are estimated to be around 12,500 to 1.
Even professional golfers only have about a 2,500 to 1 chance. This makes it a truly special and memorable accomplishment.

It was a cold day, raining off and on. I started out playing well on the first three holes, but ended up struggling on the next six. I was golfing with my husband and one of his friends that day. Between the weather and my not playing well, I thought about leaving after the first nine while my husband and his friend continued playing. At the last minute I decided to keep playing and work through my bad round. The course we were playing on is a nine hole course. On the first hole of our second round, I teed off and my husband said 'I think that's the best tee shot you've had on this hole' we watched as my ball appeared to roll off the back of the green into (I assumed) a bunker. When we got to the green I walked past the hole to look for my ball. After a minute our friend, jim said to look in the hole. I did and couldn't believe it. I felt like I was going to cry, but just focused on how awesome the moment was. I looked at my husband and friend. They both looked like they were going to cry too! I played the rest of the round on cloud nine :)
