After completing the 7th hole, we had to wait for the 3 ball ahead of us to play off the 8th tee box. Our caddies moved ahead and waited halfway down the 8th fairway to watch our tee shots. I reminisced about my previous experience of playing this hole only a few weeks before. I had hit my tee shot well but it was slightly off line to the right of the green. On reaching the area where I thought I'd find my ball, I could not find it. Miraculously it disappeared and there was no rough. It was first cut fairway rough and along side the 7th fairway. I couldn't believe I could not find my ball and I did not complete the hole. I decided to use a 4 iron because it was a stoke 7 par 3 and 200 yards hole. I hit my titleist 2 golf ball sweetly. It had a slight draw but my line for the green was spot on. I saw the ball bounce short of the green but not again thereafter. Archie my playing partner jokingly said â"I think it may have hit the flag stickâ". I thought that I'd hit it in the screws and that it had probably gone through the green to the back. On approaching the 8th green I saw my caddie looking for my ball behind the green in the long grass and in the flower beds. I started to help him look and soon got frustrated because of the memory of my previous encounter on the same hole. Here again after a really decent tee shot, I was struggling to find my ball. Archie had played his second shot and landed about 10 feet away from the pin. Eventually, after quite a few minutes, archie's caddy went to draw the flag from the cup for archie's par putt, when he noticed a ball in the cup and shouted out â"titleist 2, titleist 2 your ball? â" my frustration turned to joy as it was my ball and it was my first ever hole in one. I'd been playing golf socially for 23 years and this was the first time I hit a hole in one. My img playing partners (emily and archie) were equally delighted, as was my caddy. I had my camera but did not take any photo's mainly because it did not dawn on me at the time to do so and also the 3 ball behind us were waiting for us to complete the hole so that they could play it. It was a magic feeling realizing that I'd just hit a hole in one. I decided to keep my tee and golf ball in a different pocket as a memento and used a new ball and tee for the next hole.
