The odds of an average golfer hitting a hole-in-one are estimated to be around 12,500 to 1.
Even professional golfers only have about a 2,500 to 1 chance. This makes it a truly special and memorable accomplishment.

This was my first hole-in-one ever after returning to play golf after a 20 year hiatus away from the game. I hit a solid tee shot off the green tee box to the left side of the green. The hole has a hill before the green so the entire green is not visible from the tee box. After my foursome all teed off we approached the green. I was surprised to not see my ball on the green as we all saw it land in that direction. Two of the ladies hit short and one was to the right of the green. Susan jokingly said "did you check the cup? " and she looked in the cup and there was my ball! We were all so excited and were shouting. We called the clubhouse to report it. I was so excited I couldn't calm down! We shouted so loud the men at the adjacent hole heard us and they started shouting congratulations! As we proceeded to the next hole, then the marshall came yelling, "who got a hole in one? ". I proceeded to play the worst golf for the next 5 holes because I was so excited then calmed down enough to finish with a couple of bogies. My playing partners were katie cahill, susan morgan and diane singer. Upon completion of our round we went to the clubhouse where they gifted me with a course flag with hole in one embroidered on it.
