I have a pretty good golf story that I was recently encouraged to write about. My wife & I went to nevis—four seasons a little over two years ago for our honeymoon. The four seasons has a beautiful robert trent jones 18 hole golf course. The course is absolutely stunning. Most of the holes overlook the caribbean sea. The course goes up the mountain in nevis & is carved out of a rain forest. If you look closely while driving to the 15th hole, you will see wild monkeys in the trees. My wife & I were playing with another couple we had played with earlier that week. We tried to get out & play 9 holes each evening during our 1-week stay. I happened to be playing very well that week. I attributed it to the fact that I was very relaxed due to all of the pampering. This allowed myself to easily focus on my game. I was shooting in the low to mid 40's for a round of 9 pretty consistently that week. On thursday the 3rd we started out on the back 9 at approx. 4 pm. The 15th hole was a par 5 – 576 yard hole with a dog-leg right. I drove the ball approximately 325 yards by overshooting the trees & taking the easy way home. I still had a good 275 yards from the pin. I pulled out my 3 wood & hit the ball within inches of hole. I easily sank the putt & was absolutely thrilled, for I had never come close to making an eagle throughout my 6 year—10-15 times/year golf career. At the time I thought I couldn't be happier & I should probably end the day with my eagle. My feeling was that there is no way to top what just occurred. My wife & our golf partners wouldn't listen to my argument that we should call it a day. They encouraged me to finish up my 9 hole-round. The next hole was #16, which was a 150-yard par 3. I pulled out my 8 iron & hit away. The ball bounced 15 feet in front of the pin and rolled directly into the cup. At this point I might have been in ecstasy. Five minutes earlier I had thought to myself how I had probably had the greatest golf hole of my life & now I just followed it up with my first hole-in-one. When the ball went in the hole, all that came to my head was to grab my 8 iron which was still in my hand along with my 7 & 9 irons by my side & started throwing them in the air as I screamed for jubilation. For the back 9, I ended up shooting a 38. I'm sure that there are many great golf stories, however I want to share mine. The best part about my stories has to be that I am a 23 handicap golfer! Most people believe that these miraculous golf experiences can only happen to the pros. As you can probably tell from my handicap, I am far from a pro.
