I was playing in a fundraiser scramble with three of my friends when I hit what felt like a really good shot. Since I had never had a hole-in-one before, though, the thought that it might actually go in never really crossed my mind. There was a bush blocking my view of the pin, so I asked my friends if they could see where the ball ended up. My friend Brett said he couldn’t see it either and then said, “I think it went in.” I didn’t believe him at first. As I walked around the side of the bush, I looked toward the green—and sure enough, there was no ball in sight. What made it even crazier was that the hole had a $5,000 cash prize for a hole-in-one. My friend and one of the five people working the hole walked up to the cup together to check. A few seconds later, they turned around and gave us the thumbs-up. It was in! One of my other friends immediately came over and gave me a chest bump while we celebrated. One of the first things I did was call my dad. He couldn’t believe it either, but seeing the huge smile on his face made an already unforgettable moment even better.
