Browse By DateOdds Of A Hole-In-One?
The odds of an average golfer hitting a hole-in-one are estimated to be around 12,500 to 1.
Even professional golfers only have about a 2,500 to 1 chance. This makes it a truly special and memorable accomplishment.

I was being a smart alec and said I'd hit the middle of the green (par 4). I am a hack golfer, thus the obvious humour of my prediction. I wound up and hit it sweet, it gently sailed with the breeze and was heading right at the flag. One of my 3 partners laughed and said I'd hit it over the green. It wasn't until we were half way up the fairway that a couple on the next hole said one of us had hit a hole in one. I was preparing to take a drop as I thought I might lose the ball. As someone who plays perhaps twice a year (and has been previosuly given a handicap of 54) it was a once in a lifetime moment.
