The 17th hole at bartley cavanaugh golf course is a mini-replica of the 17th at tpc sawgrass. From the tips it plays 107 yards. The medium strength wind was coming at us at the tee and you could see the flag blowing left-to-right. Given the rain on saturday, the pins were cut on the peaks of the slopes to keep the green in shape. Randy teed it up and hit a high shot that landed a bit over the pin and to the right. Quincy (randy's homie) hit a nice shot tracking on the left that looked good but splashed in the water â short. I had just come off of back-to-back doubles, so I was not happy to see this island green that I had donated a sleeve of balls to the month before. I teed up and proceeded to take a swing with my 10-iron. Thwack! Felt great! The ball lands about 18â" in front of the cup, takes a forward bounce past the hole, then spins back â into the cup! Oh shart! Randy is jumping. Quincy is jumping. There are two other tee boxes near by, and all of those guys are jumping. The folks on the green across the water on the other side are yelling. Dudes driving up are freaking out. I throw my club in the air and just bust out laughing. Yes, earlier in the day I spouted off my usual â"I hate golf! â", and I did finish with a score of 101 (53/48). Still, I just had to laughâ...
