The green of the 18th hole is a small island surrounded by reeds and water against the backdrop of the clubhouse. It is a short par 3. I teed the ball up high to get a good loft and used my 9 iron. The ball went at the pin, dropped 1 foot in front of the hole and then jumped straight into the hole without even touching the pin according to witnesses. Quite a few people were watching, amongst others our club captain as we were playing in a 27-hole competition involving the three local golf clubs in the area of mol. It was my first hole-in-one and a thrilling experience which I celebrated with champagne afterwards in the clubhouse with all participants (according to good local tradition! ).
