The odds of an average golfer hitting a hole-in-one are estimated to be around 12,500 to 1.
Even professional golfers only have about a 2,500 to 1 chance. This makes it a truly special and memorable accomplishment.

It was about 5:30pm and I was playing with our club pro, friend and fellow curler, jeff ward. I hit a nice looking 9 iron but did not even see the ball land. Jeff saw it bounce directly in front of the hole. Jeff said "its either in the hole or over" and I replied, "I'll be pissed off if it's in, because I didn't see it" thinking it was over when I didn't see it on the green, I walked past the pin and jeff, having hit his tight, found my ball in the cup.
