The odds of an average golfer hitting a hole-in-one are estimated to be around 12,500 to 1.
Even professional golfers only have about a 2,500 to 1 chance. This makes it a truly special and memorable accomplishment.

Hit the ball into direct sunlight and I never saw it in flight. Just noticed it bounce at front of green. My friend called "good ball" when I hit it but none of the 3 of us had any idea it had gone in. We strolled to the elevated green and to my amazement my friend pointed to the hole and said "it's gone in". I could see the nike 'tick' clearly as the ball sat firmly between the flag and half submerged in the hole. I knew that my colleagues were not using 'nike' balls so it sure had to be mine. My playing partner sprung the flag slightly to one side [allowing the ball to drop to the base of the hole] and courteously gave me the priveledge of picking it out from the hole. We all basically walked off the course stunned at what had happened. I have only lived in this country for just over a year and although I only live 200 metres from the course, this is the first time I have ever played it.
