The odds of an average golfer hitting a hole-in-one are estimated to be around 12,500 to 1.
Even professional golfers only have about a 2,500 to 1 chance. This makes it a truly special and memorable accomplishment.
It occurred during the club championship on a par three leading away from the clubhouse, so there were lots of witnesses around. What made it even more special is that it had a monetary prize to go with it for the first one to get a hole-in-one that day. It was an insured hole worth $25,000 to whomever would be lucky enough to get a hole in one on that one day of the summer. What a surprise!!
